To help facilitate the growth of the server, the stability and quality. im no good at coding but anything else?

Not much yet, unfortunately.
You COULD go off to tell all the old WAR players that there's a private server forming but honestly, the current state of the server would turn the majority of the players away, because they just want to play to have fun.

I'm sure the devs let us know when they need something specific, I'm pointing at topics like this and this.

Until then, lurk the server till you're bored, check the forums, wait for an update, add any issues you find that aren't on the bugtracker yet. Yep.
