Dungeons and Scenarios

Postby bueggeroff » 15 December 2013, 23:06

2 questions here:

I love the lore and PVE side of the game. Will there be incentive to get players doing all PVE instances, particularly earlier stuff and even the 'old skool' T4 stuff too? Or is that more likely to happen naturally anyway as people go through the levelling process?

Will things be implemented in such a way that people would be more encouraged to do scenarios? My RVR experience (as I'm pretty new) has been pretty much just the door grind of the last few months with a few Ekrund scenarios when all that was live earlier this year. I find the RVR lake gameplay a bit boring & I would rather be doing my RVR in the scenarios with specific and focused objectives.

I support you on this.

Most players never even considered trying the dungeons, and I was one of them. But in the past month, a couple of friends and myself decided to run through all of them. I am amazed on how much work the developers put into them. I was disappointed at myself for never doing them earlier on. Maybe if the gear sets from the dungeons were improved, it might influence players to try them, considering that the renown gear has way better stats.

The design of what I've been able to see is hugely impressive. Its almost like there's too much effort for an aspect of the game most players have no reason at all to look at. I agree incentive to go there needs to be put in. If people are going to be hanging around in T2 and T3 longer then gear suited to those tiers needs to be in these places and worth getting.

The danger here is what eventually plagued WoW in that PVP players were getting majorly pissed off that PVE players were getting suitable gear quicker and easier that meant they could jump in. The reverse argument there is that PVP players shouldn't be allowed to gank PVE players as easy kills. Obviously WAR has a very dififerent approach and most people will prioritise RVR anyway. I dunno there's got to be some way of doing it right.

My encouragement towards PvE would be.

Make it less buggy and less dependant on group knowing how to "BUG" it to actually pass it.
If some skill of a boss doesnt work, or phase makes the big boss bug out or do smthg weird or mby wipe the party with one swing? Just remove the skill. Work on it and present it afterwards.

Oh one more thing.
I would totally scale PvE sets so those are actually similar in power to mid - high end tiered RR sets.
Meaning this : dungeon sets should scale more nicely towards what RR gear offers. So it does not depend so much on the fact that you need to grind enough RR/and or Renown Rank to wear it.
That's probably the only way to make PvE interesting. But as long as it's bug free, bcs LV could make a lot of people angry....to say the least.

Not everyone is a bloody no-life, has at least 16hours a day of spare time to grind sc's, doesn't have a job or whatnot.

But that's only if you dev people can edit loot/items.
And if that's not the case then I would definetly create a poll in which people could vote wheter Bosses should drop parts of the improved PvE sets for classes (and in what order : which boss drops what, how many, which part of the gear, etc) or they should only drop a currency/token which you can trade in for part of the gear you want (which in my opinion works better bcs... give power to the people, hey I have this great shoulder plates but I would reaaally use a new pair of shoes.. .there you go).

This is just draft. A rough script. And just an Idea. It's definetly not refined.

one thing to be considered should be to lower the lvl reqs/difficulty of the lower lvl dungeons, for example mount gunbad, bastion stair etc. and scale those armour sets to their old pvp equivalent. like bloodlord and annihilator where the same lvl before, only that the set bonuses differed and also the looks(and does anyone remember how "Wards" worked before), but now you can wear annihilator at lvl 25 and bloodlord at 40. which renders the bloodlord set completely useless since those set bonuses/stats are completely subpar against the sets you actually use nowadays in t4. keeping the no exp books for example would probably be a good idea for this, so that people can actually be their respective levels for the gear they want equipped and also wreak some havic in it.

the negative effect this might have is that people will have alot more ways to "twink" and be a real hassle in t2-t3.
the plus side however is that this might actually make both t2 and t3 really active at all times!
i for one would love to see this happen.

AAAHH!!

Almost forgot the bloody goddamn PQ's!!

Rewards in those need to be reworked totally as well. Like dungeon loots.
PQ's rewards need to scale up with RR gear better too. There are out there some pretty damn awesome PQ's
like tier 1 or 2 dwarven/ork lands. A broken wall with dwarves defending the breached wall and orks/goblins trying to breach it. Back in the release days that was one hell of a fun with full raids defending and attacking the goddamn piece of wall.

Basically any PQ that involve Order vs Destruction fightning to push to next phase should totally award some nice shiny stuff. Some of more exciting fights that included npcs and players were happening out there.
At least one per tier for each land if that wouldn't be too much.
Otherwise PQ's are just a wasted great potential for something totally awesome.
