Stop installing WAR from 5 year old disks

I'm seeing this more and more: people saying the game isn't working when they've used a 5 year old disks (i.e. those in the retail box) to install it. You need the most up-to-date version of WAR which is version 1.4.8. The way you get this is:

1) You already had an up-to-date installation when the official game ended earlier this week.
2) Somebody has uploaded a torrent of it here: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=333
3) Somebody has uploaded it to mega.co.nz here: https://mega.co.nz/#!QAsnzKLR!MZbAcXWTP ... OV3_7XXJLw

Install the game from one of those sources then apply the launcher found here: http://www2.warhammer-server.com/join-us/. Be sure that this is run with administrator privileges, that your username and password match what you use for the forums, and that the Launcher is pointing to the correct installation of WAR. You can also just copy the new launcher and data file into your WAR folder (overwriting any existing files) and run it straight from there, again with the correct admin permissions and login details).

Also, Windows 7 64-bit works fine and I'm talking from personal experience here.

Hi thxs for posting the links however I cant get past 10% download on the mega and cant get the 2nd one to work either pls help .
I have an updated client from the last day of war on my pc already but when I try to play on the private server none of my characters can interact with anything plus my skills freeze upon 1st use , I have done the swop with the files from mythics to the private so I was wondering if for some reason it did not download right and if I should do it again , can anyone offer any help please .

As long as you can login to the server it's working. The server itself is still in development and from what I've been reading the abilities thing is something they are working on right now. Just hang out by the mailbox and enjoy the view until the fix is ready - thats what I usually do : ]

If you can login and move about, it works. Skills are bugged to all fuck at the moment (see the Bugtracker at the top) as this is very early alpha.
